About Aquarium Apps

Built by aquarists, for aquarists.

The Story

I've been keeping aquariums for over 20 years. Started with a 10-gallon freshwater tank in college (RIP to those first neon tetras—I had no idea what I was doing), graduated to a 29-gallon reef tank in my first apartment, and eventually worked my way up to the kind of setups that make non-aquarists ask "wait, how much did you spend on that?"

Along the way, I kept running into the same problems every aquarist faces: Will this tank actually fit in my living room? Why do my aquarium photos look like they were taken inside a tanning bed? How do I remember when I last did a water change without keeping a chaotic spreadsheet?

So I did what any reasonable person would do—I spent hundreds of hours building apps to solve these problems instead of just, you know, writing things down like a normal human.

The Philosophy

These apps exist because I genuinely needed them. Before Aquarium Plan AR, I was literally building cardboard mockups and taping them around my apartment. Before Aquarium Camera, every forum post I made had a disclaimer: "sorry for the blue-ish photo, I swear the coral is actually orange."

My approach is simple: build tools that actually solve real problems, don't overcomplicate things, and make them enjoyable to use. Most aquarium software feels like it was designed by someone who's never seen a fish. These apps are different because they're built by someone who's spent way too much time staring at tanks, obsessing over water parameters, and arguing about the best way to aquascape.

I also believe in constantly improving. Every app gets regular updates based on feedback from the community—shoutout to the Reef2Reef, ReefCentral, and Nano-Reef forums for being the best beta testers a developer could ask for.

The Community

Aquarium Camera has been tested by over 250 aquarists from Reef2Reef before every major release. ReefBuilders called it "an essential tool for reef tank photography." Carlos Chacon from CoralVue uses it. That's not name-dropping—that's proof that this stuff actually works in the real world.

If you've got feedback, feature requests, or just want to tell me about your tank, I'm all ears. Join the beta testing program, hit me up on the forums, or send an email. This is a community-driven project, and it only gets better when people actually use these apps and tell me what sucks (or what doesn't).
